Ingredients
2 1/2 cups vegetable broth
3/4 cup dry lentils
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 bay leaf

1/4 cup olive oil
1 large red onion, chopped
1 teaspoon chopped fresh thyme
1/2 teaspoon chopped fresh oregano
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
8 ounces vegan sausage, cut into 1/4 inch slices (optional)

1 bunch kale, stems removed and leaves coarsely chopped
1 (12 ounce) package rotini pasta
2 tablespoons nutritional yeast (optional)

Directions
Bring the vegetable broth, lentils, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and bay leaf to a boil in a saucepan over high heat. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and cook until the lentils are tender, about 20 minutes. Add additional broth if needed to keep the lentils moist. Discard the bay leaf once done.
As the lentils simmer, heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Stir in the onion, thyme, oregano, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and pepper. Cook and stir for 1 minute, then add the sausage. Reduce the heat to medium-low, and cook until the onion has softened, about 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil over high heat. Add the kale and rotini pasta. Cook until the rotini is al dente, about 8 minutes. Remove some of the cooking water, and set aside. Drain the pasta, then return to the pot, and stir in the lentils, and onion mixture. Use the reserved cooking liquid to adjust the moistness of the dish to your liking. Sprinkle with nutritional yeast to serve.

Here Are Your Questions About Continuity Disaster Recovery : Business

Brief history: Timeshare company ? successful in selling, but badly managed, not paying wages, taxes, bills, customers not getting their holidays, no customer support. Being investigated by police for possible fraud.

I stepped in cos my GF worked there and I helped turn it round, people happy, getting holidays (I run a Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery consultancy) New customer support company, working well, no liability because separate from original mess. Now they won?t pay, in fact haven?t paid for 3 months. I control all company assets, should I take over the company and run it as a profitable business (there is the possibility of threats of violence but bring it on I say -:) ) If I walk existing customers of first business will lose their money and I won?t get paid either, if I run it, then I will make good profit and customers will get holidays.

I think I?ve answered the question myself just writing this, but your feedback is welcomed with open arms!

Does a Home Based Business have to be in Network Marketing?

When I write the words, ?Home Based Business,? you might automatically assume I am writing about a Network Marketing opportunity or some type of an MLM. When all it really means is exactly what it reads, a home based business, or a business based at home. Since the words ?home based business? have been tagged to the network marketing industry, the non-network marketing businesses have been tagged as ?work at home jobs? or ?work at home businesses.?

When my wife and I first started looking for a way to generate some extra income, we turned to the internet for answers, and of course, we stumbled across a network marketing company. We joined that company and were very successful, but truth of the matter is, a home based business doesn?t have to be in the network marketing industry. Most likely, the only reason we jumped into network marketing was due to the internet being flooded with network marketing opportunities.

Network Marketing vs. Traditional Home Based Business

Compared to the network marketing business model, a more traditional home based business falls second in areas of mentoring and turnkey operations. There?s no real guidebook to starting a traditional home based business in the medical field or in internet marketing. When you join a network marketing company, most have the training and tools to help you setup your business.

My point is?.if you are creative enough, you don?t have to join a network marketing company to have a business from home. There are plenty of things you can do to generate extra income, and there are a few benefits to doing this:

  1. You would be completely self reliant. Meaning, immune to having a network marketing company crumble beneath your feet. If your business crumbles, it would be completely your doing.
  2. Your reputation is managed and influenced by you and you alone. In network marketing, mistakes made by the company or others promoting the same company effect your business. A few bad apples can ruin it for everyone.

Benefits to starting a network marketing company include:

  1. Mentoring. You can get training from your sponsor, or enroller, as well as company training.
  2. The product is already created for you. Plug and play!

Conclusion

Just know that if you are searching the internet for home based business opportunities, they will all most likely be in network marketing, especially if you type in the words ?home based business.? But if you?re ambitious and self motivated, a good network marketing company is a great vehicle to use to get out of the job or create some extra income. But on that note, a more traditional home based business could be a better fit.

The type of business could be anything under the sun, but just operated out of a home office, or in my case, a living room/kitchen table/couch. There are a ton of things that can be done from home as your own home based business outside of the network marketing industry. My next post will be a list of 50 non-network marketing home based business ideas that will help you in your decision process.

Syrians taunt Assad, saying regime next to unravel

FILE - In this March 22, 2005 file photo, Syrian President Bashar Assad, left, talks to Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi prior the 17th League of Arab States' summit in Algiers. As rebels swarmed into Tripoli, Libya, late Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011, and Gadhafi's son and one-time heir apparent Seif al-Islam was arrested, Gadhafi's rule was all but over, even though some loyalists continued to resist. And, thousands of anti-government protesters took to the streets across Syria on Monday after a televised appearance by Assad, shouting for him to step down and chanting "Gadhafi is gone, now it's your turn Bashar!" (AP Photo/Nabil, File)

(AP) ? Taking inspiration from the rapid unraveling of the regime in Libya, thousands of Syrians poured into the streets Monday and taunted President Bashar Assad with shouts that his family's 40-year dynasty will be the next dictatorship to crumble.

Assad, who has tried in vain to crush the 5-month-old revolt, appears increasingly out of touch as he refuses to acknowledge the hundreds of thousands of people demanding his ouster, analysts say. Instead, he blames the unrest on Islamic extremists and thugs.

But many observers say Assad should heed the lessons of Libya.

"Gadhafi is gone; now it's your turn, Bashar!" protesters shouted in several cities across the country hours after Assad dismissed calls to step down during an interview on state TV. Security forces opened fire in the central city of Homs, killing at least one person.

"Leaders should know that they will be able to remain in power as long as they remain sensitive to the demands of the people," Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, according to Turkey's Anatolia news agency.

Turkey, a former close ally of Syria and an important trade partner, has grown increasingly frustrated with Damascus over its deadly crackdown. The violence has left Syria facing the most serious international isolation in decades, with widespread calls for Assad to step down.

Human rights groups say more than 2,000 people ? most of them unarmed protesters ? have been killed in the government's crackdown on the uprising.

Britain's Defense Secretary Liam Fox told BBC radio that Assad would "be thinking again in light of what has happened in Tripoli overnight."

"There is an unavoidable change in the area ? and I think the message to those in that region is that if you do not allow change to be a process it can become an event," he said.

Syria presented a different case than other Arab nations swept by unrest this year.

A military intervention has been all but ruled out, given the quagmire in Libya and the lack of any strong opposition leader in Syria to rally behind. The U.S. and other nations have little leverage to threaten further isolation or economic punishment of Assad's pro-Iranian regime.

U.S. State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland dismissed the idea of arming the Syrian rebels. "I don't think anybody thinks that more guns into Syria is going to be the right answer right now," she said. :The Syrians themselves don't want that. So that's why our focus has been on political and economic pressure."

With neither side in the conflict showing any signs of backing down, many fear a drawn-out and bloody stalemate.

"What is so shocking is that the Syrian people have been really resilient, determined to continue to fight the regime for almost half a year and this is something, I believe, (Assad) did not count on," said Labib Kamhawi, a political analyst in Jordan.

Assad has had four public appearances since the uprising began in March, the latest one on Sunday night. His remarks have stayed remarkably similar even as the uprising gained momentum, with the president trying to convey a sense of confidence while insisting his security forces were fighting a foreign conspiracy to stir up sectarian strife.

He has also pledged reforms, but the opposition says the promises are empty.

Assad told state-run TV Sunday that he was not worried about security in his country and warned against any Libya-style foreign military intervention.

On Monday, the state news agency said Assad formed a committee to pave the way for the formation of political groups other than his Baath party, which has held a monopoly in Syria for decades. The opposition rejected Assad's remarks, saying they have lost confidence in his promises of reform while his forces open fire on peaceful protesters.

Also Monday, a witness said several thousand people converged on the main square in Homs known as Clock Square after they heard that a U.N. humanitarian team was to visit the city. He said security forces opened fire on the protesters, killing one and wounding several others.

"Simply, without any introductions, they started shooting at them," he said, asking that his name not be used for fear of government reprisals.

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon criticized Assad for breaking his pledge last week to halt the violence. "It is troubling that he has not kept his word," Ban said.

Syria granted a U.N. team permission to visit some of the centers of the protests and crackdown to assess humanitarian needs, but activists and a Western diplomat have accused the regime of trying to scrub away signs of the crackdown.

In Hama, another central city that has been a hotbed of dissent, pro-regime gunmen fired their guns in celebration after Assad's appearance, killing two people overnight.

The London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and another activist group called the Local Coordination Committees confirmed the deaths. Both groups cited witness accounts.

In the southern village of Hirak, four people were wounded when security forces opened fire on protesters, according to the observatory.

Also Monday, a U.N. human rights expert says Arab nations agreed to demand that Syria allow an international probe within its borders to see whether crimes against humanity have been committed.

Jean Ziegler, a member of the U.N. Human Rights Council's advisory committee, told The Associated Press that Kuwait will make the demand on behalf of Arab nations.

3 Rock Solid Online Video Marketing Strategies - Work On the Internet

It is well known that online video marketing is incredibly popular these days. Almost every internet marketer is either already doing it or planning to jump on the bandwagon very soon. If you don't believe me just go take a look at a few product sales pages right now, or some popular internet businss blogs, or discussions on your favorite online marketing forum. You could also check out a little site you might have heard of called YouTube. Okay, I think you get the point!

There are marketing videos all over YouTube and all the other major video sharing sites. And just as with guest blogging, social networking, article marketing, and other popular traffic generation strategies; video marketing can make you a lot of money if you do it correctly. This post is going to provide you with three online video marketing tips that you can use to become a rockstar of the industry.

One of the most important things to remember is... You need to be outrageous! People aren't interested in watching (or sharing) a boring video of you sitting at your desk talking about the hottest new internet marketing trend. You need to catch and keep their attention, and give them a reason to share it with their social network. So you want to do something that's original and off the wall to be different from everyone else creating marketing videos.

The next tip is to not be super cheap. Yes, I know there are some decent free solutions out there for making videos. But your videos are going to seem amateurish and not look as good if you use them. You don't have to spend a fortune on equipment or software but if you're going to be a video marketer, you might as well do it right. At the very least you should get a high quality camera, a good microphone, proper lighting, and great editing software.

Last but not least, you should script your videos. Chances are you aren't a professional actor, or even a very good one. Maybe you are but the vast majority of internet marketers are not, so this online video marketing tip is for them. Therefore, you can't just step in front of the camera and totally wing it. If you do that you will make tons of mistakes and your video will suck. So, script out what you want to say/do and rehearse it until you have it just right. Don't hit record until you know what you're going to say and are ready to go. But also remember not to simply read your script or your video will be super boring.

Alright, that pretty much covers it. If you want to become an online video marketing rockstar you need to concentrate on being original, entertaining, finding the right equipment, and scripting out your videos beforehand. Doing this will ensure they turn out much more professional and end up getting you a lot more traffic, which will make you tons more money from your internet business.

(AP) ? Novak Djokovic's remarkable winning streak ended with a grimace, one that puts a new spin on the U.S. Open.

The world's top-ranked player was forced to retire in the second set Sunday because of a sore right shoulder, giving Andy Murray the championship at the Western & Southern Open.

It was the Serb's first bad moment in his 57-2 season. Djokovic had won 16 consecutive matches since his only previous loss of the season in the semifinals against Roger Federer on June 3 at Roland Garros. The winning streak has taken a toll.

Djokovic talked about feeling exhausted in Cincinnati, coming off his record fifth Masters series title in Montreal last week. He said his serving shoulder had bothered him for about the last 10 days, but he'd been able to manage the soreness and keep winning.

On Sunday, he couldn't go on.

"There is no good loss, that's for sure," Djokovic. "The good thing is there's a week, eight days to the start of the Open.

"I'm confident I can recover and be ready for the U.S. Open."

He was completely off his game against the fourth-seeded Murray, won the first set 6-4 and was ahead 3-0 in the second when Djokovic decided just before the rain came that he couldn't continue. Djokovic got his shoulder treated after he lost the first set, grimacing at one point.

With his serve registering only in double-digits and his forehand limited by the pain, Djokovic realized he couldn't compete. He said he would have retired even if the rain had temporarily stopped the match.

"I could have maybe played another couple of games, but what for?" he said. "I cannot beat a player like Murray today with one stroke."

It was Murray's second title this season. The 24-year-old Scotsman also won at the Queen's Club. He lost his other final match to Djokovic at the Australian Open.

Djokovic felt worn-down heading into the final, the strain of all those recent matches catching up with him. He said his loathing for losing was pulling him through matches.

It wasn't enough on Sunday.

Djokovic was off his game at the outset, repeatedly hitting forehands, backhands and volleys everywhere but in the court. Murray broke his serve to open the match and won 10 of the first 12 points.

Could Djokovic win another one while running on fumes and playing with a bum shoulder?

By the end of the first set, he knew the answer.

"I was generally exhausted playing many matches, but the exhaustion is not the reason," Djokovic said. "The reason is shoulder pain. I just could not serve."

Murray was more rested, though not by choice. He lost in the opening round at Montreal a week ago, giving him unwanted time to relax and work on his game. The break seemed to help ? he didn't lose a set all week in Cincinnati.

"I had five or six days to get ready here," said Murray, who won his first Masters series championship in Cincinnati in 2008. "I've always played well on this court."

With the crowd behind him, Djokovic got back into the match by breaking Murray to tie the first set at 3. Murray broke him right back, ending a long baseline rally by coming to the net for a put-away volley. Djokovic walked around the court with a blank expression, his mouth open.

His demeanor said he was in trouble.

Djokovic made 20 unforced errors in the first set, which ended when he dumped a routine forehand into the net. Djokovic squatted in disappointment, then went to his chair and took a timeout to have a trainer stretch his right arm and shoulder.

When the trainer pushed on the side of his rotator cuff with his thumb, Djokovic grimaced.

Murray broke him again to start the second set, an indication the shoulder wasn't going to get better. Djokovic started protecting the shoulder on his follow through.

When Murray left him with an easy volley into an open court, Djokovic couldn't get anything on his overhead return, smacking it weakly toward the net. That point gave Murray a 3-0 lead and forced Djokovic to accept that he wasn't going to get a chance to keep his winning streak going.

The health of his shoulder will become an overriding question heading into the U.S. Open, which starts on Aug. 29. Rafael Nadal is the defending champion, and he's also got some physical issues ? burned fingertips on his right hand that bothered him in Cincinnati.

Arcade Games On Console Home Systems

Article by Tristan Andrews

When it comes to the classic arcade games you will want to keep in mind that they have become the biggest rage in the gaming industry. This trend is definitely bringing back some of the arcade games that everyone loves, but also it proves that arcade games are not dead.

The gamers are not only just the younger crowd now, but those who grew up playing these games are also now addicted to them. You will find that the games are being redone, but you also have to realize that a lot of these people have never given up their addiction. You will also find that there is an addiction that is growing because these games are being redone and they are now marketing the game to many age groups.

In the past, arcade games have not been known to have the best graphics. You will also find that the move to other gaming units have now giving in the games very detailed graphics. This move successfully negates the fact that the popularity of a game largely depends on its game play and not seemingly awe-inspiring graphics.

This phenomenon has also triggered a resurrection of arcade games and made it popular among online gamers. Arcade games are also being ported into handheld consoles like PSP. This is clearly an indication that there is popularity among gamers for arcade games.

Some of the ported titles are:

Geometry Wars was a classic game from the 1980?s. The upgrade features high end particle physics, digital sound, new special effects, a new scrolling area and high end graphics.

It is set in the far reaches of the galaxy where you battle hordes of vile, neon blazoned aliens. You can also choose from the newer version or choose the updated version.

As for Pac-Man it has become an all time classic game that everyone has played at one time or another. It has now become upgraded with the help of high definition. The game still retains the original game play and the charming retro look.

As it turns out ? the ?addicting factor? of a game is often what makes it stand the test of time. Some of the most popular games have basic graphics and gameplay ? but they have a theme that makes people want to play more and more.

As for the newer versions of these games, you will find that they are still packed with fun and action, but also you will notice that the game also has the original sound and music themes so that you can still feel like it?s the original.

Real estate investment ? Flickrz Article Directory

Real estate investment is about finding good deals

Real estate investments are often treated as one the best ways of investing money. However, what you are looking for is not just any real estate investment, but real estate investment that can give you good returns. By real estate investment we mean investing money into property i.e. buying property at a low price and selling it at a higher price so as to make a profit out of it. So the most important part of good real estate investment is to get hold of such properties which can give you good returns.
Now, how can you get these potential profit-making deals?
Your first avenue for finding good deals is the local newspaper (the property newspaper). Just search for properties that are listed directly by the owners who want to avoid paying commission to the real estate brokers. Since the owner is saving on the commission that they would otherwise have to pay to the broker, they would probably be able to offer a lower price to you and be more open to negotiations. You could also place your own wanted ad in the local newspapers. On the same lines, you could use internet to search for the real estate investment avenues. In fact, you would be astonished by the number of real estate investment opportunities you are able to locate on the internet. Not only that, searching for real estate investment opportunities (i.e. property for sale) is much easier on internet than anywhere else.
Another good way to hunt for real estate investment opportunities is by using the services of real estate brokers. Some people use real estate agents as their first (and maybe the only) touch point for getting real estate investment opportunities. The real estate agents act as information hub for people looking to buy property. In fact, a lot of sellers find it much more convenient to sell their properties by listing it with real estate agents.
Multiple listings service is another good way to find real estate investment opportunities. Since the multiple listing book is provided only to the real estate agents and not to the general public (unless you are very lucky), all the cream (good real estate investment opportunities) would have already been taken before you get to see the book. The key here is to look for expired listings that didnt get converted to a deal.
Another good way to get a property, that is a good real estate investment, is to look for foreclosures by banks/ VA/ FHA or to visit public auctions. You can generally get a good deal here. Divorce settlements are another good real estate investment opportunity.
So, real estate investment is really about finding good deals. And finding good deals does take some effort
